On December 4, 2025, the Ministry of Food and Drug Administration (MFDS) of South Korea issued Announcement No. 2025-78, revising the registration and management standards for outstanding overseas food producers, which came into effect from the date of issuance. The main content is:

1. Simplify the registration review. If the overseas manufacturing plant or operation site has already passed the hygiene inspection of the overseas food hygiene evaluation agency, the Ministry of Food and Drug Administration of South Korea can skip the on-site inspection. This move aims to activate the registration of outstanding imported food production enterprises.

2. Integrate and standardize the provisions. Consolidate and adjust the wording of the scattered and repetitive provisions in the current regulations (such as the conditions for returning the registration certificate, the conditions for extending the validity period, and the conditions for extending the compliance items, etc.) to make the regulatory structure clearer.
